Figure out how many calories you should be eating. Before you begin any healthy diet regimen it’s important to determine how many calories you should be consuming. You can’t ride on the notion that you’ll lose weight just because you’re eating a balance of nutritious foods. Based on your height, your current weight and your goal weight, find out what your daily caloric intake should be. This will serve as guideline for how much you need to be eating. Grilled Flank Steak
1/4 cup chopped onion 1 clove garlic, minced 1/2 teaspoon chili powder 1 tablespoon margarine 1/2 cup tomato sauce 2 tablespoons vinegar 1 tablespoon honey 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper 1 1/2 pounds beef flank steak,k cut 2/3 inch thick
P R E P A R A T I O N
1) For sauce, in a small saucepan cook onion, garlic and chili powder in margarine till tender. Stir in tomato sauce, vinegar, honey, salt and pepper. Bring to a boiling, stirring constantly. Boil 5 minutes or till sauce is lightly thickened.
2) Meanwhile, trim fat from flank steak. Score steak diagonally into diamonds on both sides. Brush with sauce. Grill steak on an uncovered grill directly over medium coals for 7 minutes. Turn and grill to desired doneness, allowing 5 to 7 minutes more for medium. Brush occasionally with the remaining sauce.
3) To serve, thinly slice the flank steak accross the grain. Makes 6 servings.
Broiling Directions: Place meat on the unheated rack of a broiler pan. Broil 3 inches from the heat for 6 minutes. Turn and broil to desired doneness, allowing 6 to 8 minutes more for medium. Brush occasionally with sauce.
